Weird B Burner on eBay

Hi All-
I just came across this strange looking burner listed on eBay:

It looks like a regular B burner, but with 2 of the 'things that stick up & touch the grate' (I don't know what the real name is so please enlighten me if you do) instead of the usual 1.

Has anyone seen these before? Outside of my own range, I have not seen any other Chambers in person, but every B model burner I've seen pictures of has just 1 of those things like mine do, unless it has been altered for LP gas & they have been removed. I'm thinking of bidding on it since I'd like to have some back up parts for my B in case I decide to have my burners reporcelained or if something gets broken.

Those are the burners for natural gas. The instructions state that you have to shave off these chimineys for LP gas. With LP you have to raise the burners and these points get too close to the grates if you don't shave them off.

I know the natural gas burners have points like that (mine does), but the others I've seen only have 1 point instead of 2. I'm sorry I guess I wasn't clear enough in my initial posting.

I'm just wondering why the one on eBay has 2 & if others have seen them with 2.

All of my burners on my A model have 2. Sorry, didn't realize that others only had one.

It would be nice if we had an organized set of pictures of the different parts across the various models (with measurement--even better!). I've seen pictures scattered around, but I haven't stumbled on anywhere an organized catalog is being attempted.

I volunteer to take pictures of the parts on my 'B.'

I agree. I want to take pictures of the different pots, grills, drip pans, etc., but I just haven't had the time. Hubby leaves soon so my evenings will be free later this summer.

Hello Danny - I own two model B's - Opal & Vida. My model B's have both types of burners. After reading your post, I was curious, and went and checked my burners. The back left burner has an extended chimney on the left, the front left burner has an extended chimney on the front, and the front right burner has two extended chimneys - left and right. I have looked in my service manual for more information, but I don't see anything that explains which burners went with what, except the the high chimney was for natural gas. Perhaps Sam can shed more light on the subject.

I have had Opal for 20 years, and never noticed that all three burners were slightly different. And then I read your message, and open my eyes. The forum is indeed a great place to meet like minded friends. Thanks.

All this talk of Mayhaw jelly is making me salivate. Being a northern gal, I've never heard of it. I'd be willing to pay for shipping and cost for a jar to sample????

After checking the Lighthouse, I have returned home and am about halfway into making a batch of Mayhaw Jelly. While waiting for the last boil, I checked the board, so I have an opinion. I was told that the goofy prongs on the burners were added as a safety measure. They are there incase someone sat a pan on the burner where there was no grate, the prongs would hold the pan up off the flame and the pan would not put out the flame and cause raw gas to fill the kitchen. So my vote is that there sholud be 2 prongs on the burners. If there is not 2, it is because they burnt or rusted off. There is nothing better than the smell of mayhaws being cooked for jelly!
